Track And Field - The St. Michael's Way walk from St. Ives to St. Michael's Mount near Penzance.

Wake up at the back there!

You really need to start paying attention because this is one of the sections of the walk that is so spectacularly unmarked (and, we suspect, de-marked) that it is very easy to end up wandering around like a headless chicken!

As you emerge from HMP Little Trevarrack you shin over this gap in the wall (avoiding being trampled by stampeding horses if possible).
Sneak straight across the horsey field aiming just to the left of the building .....
..... where you scramble over the wall and head left down a driveway.
When you reach the road look to the other side on the right and you should spot ..... (9 on Map)
..... the stile and, at last, another marker post.

If you consult your map now you should see that there is a standing stone in the next field but one. You want to head for this field but the standing stone is not actually in the right direction.

Nothing to stop you going to have a look at it if you want, though. Basically it's a big stone and it stands up. We tried running around it anti-clockwise 13 times on a full moon but nothing happened. Bah!

That's the standing stone over there, on the left in the distance. We didn't go over this time because Shaun had already been distracted by something more interesting!
Aha, the black sheep of the family.
The easiest way to find the next waypoint is to turn right and walk around the edge of the standing stone field. (It also reduces the chances of you being savaged by irate sheeps!).
Hm, I'm sure that's not right. It's hard to have much sympathy with farmers complaining about walkers wandering around their fields when some seem to have made less than zero effort to mark the right of way.
Anyway, assuming your forensic skills are sufficient to locate the remains of the marker post you then head down this little path.
It's quite overgrown in places but also quite picturesque in a flowery sort of way.
Eventually the path comes out onto a track .....
..... which you then follow down to the road (near the Tyringham Arms). (10 on Map)
